Rosie understands the importance of utilizing the many resources located within Allston/ Brighton to improve the community and the lives of its citizens,” stated Clare Bertrand, Co-President, Boston NOW.

I’ve continued to campaign hard and well and my campaign continues to attract supporters. As of last count, 130+ households and businesses in Allston-Brighton have placed Rosie Hanlon signs on their lawns and in their windows. These days, it’s hard to drive anywhere without seeing my name lining our streets.

I’ve also made significant updates to my website and encourage you to visit and learn more about both what I’ve done and also what I will do as Allston-Brighton’s next City Councilor. There are so many different challenging we’re facing but I’ve identified 8 priority issues: affordable housing; business viability; city services; civil and human rights; education; environment; institutional expansion; and public safety.

Later today I’m looking forward to attending the Hobart Park Picnic which is always a lot of fun. Before that, I’m going to continue to walk the neighborhoods. I’m now on my fourth pair of shoes! Campaigning isn’t always easy and requires a lot of stamina – but I’m committed and being able to continue to represent, advocate and champion on your behalf is worth every step I take!

I hope to see you on the campaign trails and don’t forget to mark down in your calendar election day – September 25!

It has been a while since my last entry because so many good things have been happening this month with my campaign.

I’ve been busy walking the streets of Allston-Brighton meeting with friends and neighbors. Whether it is the McGee’s who live on Waverley Street or the Lombardi’s who live on Arden Street, or the Clark’s who live on Brayton Road or the Woo’s on Etna Street, everyone shares the same concerns. And your concerns are my concerns – they always have been, and they always will be.

In addition to seeing old friends and making new ones, I’ve enjoyed traveling our neighborhoods because it’s like walking down memory lane. A few days ago when I was walking along Pomeroy Street in Allston, I was brought back to the summer of 1968 as I knocked on the doors of the same houses that were on my first paper route. Many of the families were still there, and they remembered me from 40 years before. Or when I was on Portsmouth Street last week, I couldn’t help but think about 1986 when I bought my first house to start a family, knowing that Allston-Brighton would always by my home.

Wherever it is that I am, it always so easy for me to remember just why it is that I’m running for City Councilor: Allston-Brighton is my home and working to make it a better place for all of us is what I’ve always done.

I am also pleased to announce that I have opened two campaign offices – one in Allston and one in Brighton. My Allston campaign office is located at 44 North Beacon Street and my NEW Brighton campaign office is located at 360 Washington Street, on the corner of Washington and Chestnut Hill Ave.

What is most exciting is the number and diversity of supporters and volunteers who have joined my campaign – a number that keeps on growing with each and every day. They are Allston-Brighton residents who believe strongly in my commitment and my experience, and who recognize my results.

Just a quick update:

There is a candidate forum at the Jackson-Mann community center on Tuesday, August 6th. The meet and greet starts at 6 O'clock, and the official forum begins at 7. I hope to see a great turnout!

I'd also like to remind everyone that the U.S. Air Force Liberty Band is performing on Thursday, August 9th at Chandler's Pond. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community. I know it will be a great show and a great time.

Welcome to my blog!

Welcome to my blog!
